The first round of the Championship competition recorded mixed fortunes for Te Awamutu sides. A pleasing note was the return to winning ways for the Wanderers and Terriers, teams that have battled hard this season and returned to the winners circle with wins over Southwell Reds and Vardon Scorpions respectively.
The Scott Williams coached Rangers went down fighting in a 10 goal thriller 4-6 to the Newstead Tigers. The Reds and Barracudas secured first round wins, while the Mini Macs and Cougars shared the points with drawn games.
Next week we hope for more fine weather and good results for our TAAFC teams.
